A total of four (4) performance spots for the 2005 Solo Master Classes with Karl Kraber and Hannah Lang are open to all current members of the Nebraska Flute Club. Two (2) flutists will be selected to perform for Karl Kraber in a public master class: one (1) at UNL on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 (2:00 p.m.) and one (1) at UNO on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 (3:00 p.m.). Two (2) flutists will be selected to perform for Hannah Lang in a public master class: one (1) at UNL on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 (2:00 p.m.) and one (1) at UNO on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 (3:00 p.m.). Performers will be selected by taped audition (unedited CDs or cassettes). Performers and alternates will be notified by March 13, 2005.
Repertoire may consist of any piece of his/her choosing (entire work or a complete movement of a work must not exceed 7 minutes total), or 2-3 standard orchestral excerpts. If choosing a work with piano, it must be recorded with accompaniment. Selection(s) on the tape must be the same selection(s) that will be performed on the master class. If selected to perform, works with piano must be performed with accompaniment. A list of accompanists available for hire in both Lincoln and Omaha is available on the NFC website, but it is the responsibility of the winners to secure an accompanist. Although every effort will be made to secure rehearsal space for performers on the day of the master class, this can not be guaranteed.
All applicants must be current members of the NFC (dues may be sent with application), and all entries must include an additional processing fee of $5. NFC dues for 2004-2005 are $5 for middle school/high school students and $10 for college students and adults. All entries must include the application (photocopies are acceptable). Entries must be postmarked by March 4, 2005 to receive consideration cheveux chute.
